Jefferson County Schools
Posted: March 26th, 2004
Charleston, W.VA. - Ten West Virginia School Systems were recently honored with the 2004 What Parents Want Award, presented by SchoolMatch, an independent nationwide service that helps corporate employee families find schools that match the needs of their children.
Schools in Brooke, Cabell, Harrison, Jefferson, Kanawha, Marion, Monongalia, Ohio, Putnam and Wood counties were recognized for meeting the needs of families relocating in West Virginia. Only 16 percent of the nation’s 15,573 public school districts have earned this award.
The counties were selected for their academic test scores as well as being recognized for excellence by a national foundation or by the U.S. Department of Education. They were also noted for their above average library/media services and instructional expenditures on a national percentile basis.
“West Virginia constantly strives to provide the best education to all of its citizens,” said State Schools Superintendent David Stewart. “Education and economic development go hand and glove. Many large businesses and potential employees look to the school system when deciding to relocate. We are honored to have our county’s system recognized for the commitment to excellence.”
More than seven million parents accessed SchoolMatch services through a variety of website locations, including national, regional and local real estate firms, chambers of commerce, economic development offices and other family oriented sites.

Selling Your Home >Marketing Techniques
When a seller lists a home with a real estate agent, a lot of brainstorming follows. Who are the potential buyers, where do they live and work? How can they be reached effectively with information that will attract them to this particular property?
In addition to advertising each home on the widely used Multiple Listing Service, professional real estate agents employ marketing techniques tailored to the individual home they are selling. An agent will review various buyer lists to find potential purchasers. They will use telephone and direct mail marketing, produce property flyers and advertise on the Internet, in the newspaper, in community publications and in real estate magazines. Contacts will be made to other agents who sell homes in the area to encourage them to show the home to prospective buyers.
Real estate agents combine pro-active marketing with realistic pricing to generate results for their home sellers.
